2007 PGA Merchandise Show Review, The Good Stuff
I spent four days at the show including the outdoor demo day on Wednesday. Lots of companies have square drivers including Callaway and Nike. You can check out their websites for more info. Make sure the club fits if you get one and the club you get performs as well as the one you demoed. It often doesn’t. The only company that guarantees the fit is Henry-Griffitts.
The best product I saw at the show was Aline. It is an innersole for your shoe, golf or other, which aligns your foot to promote effective performance. All such devices make these claims but I believe Aline does it better than any of them. Check out (aline.com).
There were numerous products that allow you to practice golf in your house or backyard. The two that intrigued me the most: GLIDEBALL (glideball.com). This will allow you to take full swings at a golf ball in a garage or other similarly sized area. Birdie Balls (birdieball.com). These “balls” can be used in the backyard or a gym. They are safe, fun and give accurate feedback.
I also attended a conference presented by Stuart Lindsay of (edgehillgolfadvisors.com) and Jim Koppenhaver of (pellucidcorp.com) on the state of the golf business and what to do about it. They stated that the three biggest reasons for the decline in activity were time, money and difficulty. I believe that if you address the difficulty issue you will solve the time and money problems. If people find the game easier to learn and more fun to play they will take the time and money to play it. The students I have that do the rather simple things I give them to do find that they learn faster, hit the ball better and have more fun.
The product that addresses the learn faster ,more easily and hit the ball more effectively issues better than anything I have ever used is the SWING WONDER (swingone.com).This machine teaches the body the feel of an effective powerful and athletic motion , better than anything I have ever seen-no close second.
